Criminal Code Proposal Dies In Legislature

INDIANAPOLIS – A proposal to slow down changes to Indiana’s criminal code is dead for the year.

Mike Young (R) Indianapolis

Indianapolis Senator Mike Young’s bill would have required any new crimes or any sentencing changes to be reviewed by a study committee before legislators considered them. House Speaker Brian Bosma says it’s unnecessary — he says that’s already the general practice, though he acknowledges there are frequent exceptions.

Young didn’t call his bill for a vote in the Senate — that kills it for the year.
