Driver Identified In Saturday Morning Fatal Crash

Saturday evening Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom identified the driver killed in the Saturday morning crash as 17-year-old Brazen Maze of Dugger.  He was a junior at Dugger High School.

Police say alcohol or drugs were not involved in this accident.

The Dugger Union Schools are planning to have grief counselors available at the school Monday.

A cause of the crash has not been determined.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – Sullivan County Sheriff’s officials are investigating a fatal crash, that happened around 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning on State Road 54 near CR 525 east.

According to Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Copeland, it appears that an eastbound vehicle ran off of the right shoulder, before veering back into the path of a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle did not survive the crash.

His name is not being released at this time, pending identification and notification of family.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, 26 year old Tucker Hancock of Carlisle was listed in stable condition, after being transported to Sullivan County Community Hospital.

State Road 54 was detoured for two hours during the investigation and clean up.

More details will be released later.

Sullivan County Sheriff’s officials were assisted by the Dugger Town Marshal, Union Twp. Fire & Rescue, SCAT Ambulance, Sullivan City Fire Ambulance, and the Sullivan County Coroner’s office.
