INDIANAPOLIS — Six people in Indiana have now tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

One person in Adams County and one person in Boone County have tested positive for the virus, ISDH said Tuesday morning.

The four other people who tested positive for COVID-19 are in Hendricks, Marion, and Noble Counties.

“We need to adapt to the facts on the ground,” said Gov. Eric Holcomb, addressing media questions Tuesday morning. Holcomb said he believes Avon schools made the right decision fo the district in asking students not to come in through the end of spring break.

“I encourage every citizen to, if they feel flu-like symptoms coming on, they need to get in touch with their health care provider first and foremost,” said the governor. “If you’re a senior, if you have some underlying health conditions that you’re dealing with right now, the facts on the ground are different for you.”

Holcombs said perhaps senior citizens should reconsider traveling or going into large crowds.

“It has a much lower mortality rate for younger folks. This is more like enduring the flu.”

A total of 36 people have been tested for COVID-19, according to the ISDH novel coronavirus tracker.

Meanwhile the Governor said that he and members of his cabinet joined a call with governors nationwide and The White House Coronavirus Taskforce led by Vice President Mike Pence.

Holcomb said that with the help of federal, state and local partners, Indiana is monitoring and taking the necessary steps to address this evolving public health emergency.
