Union Hospital Will Not Permit Most Visitors, Those Allowed Will Be Screened For COVID-19

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – On Friday Union Hospital issued to visitor restrictions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost all visitors will be banned.

Effective Monday, March 16th, in an effort to keep our staff and patients safe, WE WILL NO LONGER PERMIT VISITORS AT UNION HOSPITAL OR UNION HOSPITAL CLINTON.

Please note the following exceptions:

  1. Emergency Department (ED)- 1 visitor only
  2. Inpatient Surgery (day of surgery only)- 1 visitor only
  3. Outpatient Surgery- 1 visitor only
  4. Outpatient Testing- 1 visitor only
  5. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)- 2 visitors (parents)
  6. OB/Labor Room- 1 visitor only
  7. Pediatrics- 1 parent only

Beginning Monday, March 9 at 5 a.m., Union Hospital Terre Haute and Union Hospital Clinton will screen ALL visitors and patients for COVID-19.

Individuals will be screened, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, for the following:

  • Fever or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as a cough or sore throat within the last 21 days.
  • International travel within the last 14 days to restricted countries. For updated information on restricted countries, visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers
  • Contact with someone with known or suspected COVID-19.

Visitors and patients, who are not currently inpatient, will be directed to use specific entrances so that we can properly screen them.

There will be two screening stations:

  • East Building: Main Entrance, Building 1
  • West Building: Main Entrance, Building 2

PLUS—

Union Hospital Terre Haute & Clinton Emergency Departments:

  • No Entrance Changes—Screenings will happen at Triage Desk

The purpose of screenings and visitor restrictions is to protect the public and limit the spread of potential Coronavirus cases here in the Wabash Valley.
