Will You Get Pulled Over In A County With A Travel Advisory?

INDIANAPOLIS — If you’re driving in a county that’s currently under a travel advisory, you’re not going to be pulled over just for being on the road.

Indiana State Police Sergeant John Perrine

Indiana State Police Sergeant John Perrine says for now, the advisories aren’t law, just guidelines people are highly encouraged to follow. Perrine adds that, if you are pulled over by a cop, you likely violated some sort of traffic law. Casual conversation during that stop would include questions like where are you going and where are you coming from, but according to Perrine, these are questions the police have already been asking for years.

Six counties around Indiana are now under travel advisories or watches, because of the coronavirus. Cass, Howard, Marion, Hancock, and Wayne  counties have the travel bans.
