Stimulus Checks Will Soon Arrive, Be On The Lookout For Scams

scam-alert-3

INDIANA – Your stimulus check will soon be on the way but you do need to be careful of potential scams, says the Indiana State Police.

On March 30th, The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service said stimulus checks should begin being distributed over the next three weeks.

The check will be sent out automatically, with no action required for most people, but taxpayers who don’t typically file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the check.

The people who have filed their 2019 tax returns, the IRS will use this information to determine how much money you get. Anyone who hasn’t filed yet the IRS will use information from your 2018 tax return.

The stimulus check will be deposited directly into the same banking account on the tax return.

This means the IRS will not call or email you for personal information, because they already have it.

ISP wants you to remember:

– You’ll never have to click through links to get your money

– If you don’t have direct deposit, no one is needed to “set up your account”

– You’ll never need to verify your check amount to anyone

– You’ll never be threatened
