VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board met Friday morning and voted to move forward in submitting a proposal to purchase the Vigo County School Corporation (VCSC) property, including a license for parking in the interim so the project can begin.

The property will be used for parking for the coming downtown Convention Center and the Hilton Garden Inn motel.

The CIB is offering $3 million for the property.

It appears that the majority of the VCSC board has agreed to sell the property; however, a final vote has not yet been taken and is expected to be held once the stay-at-home order is lifted.

The school corporation has outlined several cost cutting measures including the closing of three elementary schools and the relocating of the administration offices to another building. The schools to be closed and the building that the administrative offices would move to has yet to be decided.
