VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The identity of the victim who died in a weekend police action shooting has been released.

Indiana State Police that person was 51-year-old Errol K. Bolin of Seelyville.

Police were called to western Vigo County Saturday morning on the report of a suspicious person.

When officers arrived in the area, they tried to contact the individual over public address speakers.

They say at that time the person opened fire on police.

Officers returned fire and Bolin was found dead a short time later.

Indiana State Police say that the investigation is ongoing, and no other details are yet being released.

Vigo County Jail records indicate that Bolin has been booked into the jail on at least ten separate occasions on various drug and domestic battery charges.
