Terre Haute Fire Fighter John Schoffstall was laid to rest Saturday.  Schoffstall was a 12 year member of the department.  He was also a paramedic who died as a result of complications of Coronavirus on April 12 in Union Hospital.

He had previously worked at New Goshen Fire and Rescue and Newport Chemical Depot.

Those who attended the memorial service at West Vigo High School stayed in their cars to practice social distancing.

Several hundred family members, area citizens and dignitaries attended the service.

Family members did ask for continued prayers as Schoffstall’s mother Trish has also tested positive for the coronavirus.
