Elective Surgery Not Allowed For Your Pets Either

INDIANAPOLIS — You can’t get your pet spayed or neutered right now.

“The governor issued an order that unless it’s an emergency surgery, we’re not supposed to be doing those,” Cheri Storms, executive director of Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana talking with Pet Pals TV. “For the spay/neuter world and the world of animal overpopulation, it’s very difficult for us. No one wants to be closed.”

Storms says that until the services can be offered again there are a few things you can do at home.

“Don’t put your dog out on a chain, don’t put your dog out in the backyard unattended, whether it’s a male or a female.”

For cats, she said if you have more than one in a home to try and keep them separated because cats can start reproducing as early as four-months-old.
