VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department has released more information a Thursday morning fatal accident.

Around 5:40 a.m. Vigo County Deputies were called to Chamberlain St just north of St Rd 42 about a vehicle/pedestrian crash. An SUV traveling south on Chamberlain St driven by Kathy Shepard of Terre Haute swerved to go around a garbage truck, driven by Jarrett Fagin of Terre Haute.  Shepard’s SUV crashed into a tree.

While the two drivers were standing at the scene assessing the damage, another vehicle driven by Graham Reinoehl, also swerved around the garbage truck, striking both Shepard and Fagin. Shepard was pronounced dead at the scene. Fagin was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
