SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Health Department announced Sunday that there were nearly 3,000 new cases of COVID-19.

That brings the total number of cases to re announced in Illinois on Sunday afternoon, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 61.499. That is an increase of 2,994.

There were also 63 newly reported deaths bringing the total to 22,618.
