Woman Suffers Serious Burns At Terre Haute Nursing Home

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A woman suffered burns at a Terre Haute nursing home Monday.

Firefighters were called to Signature Health Care on Maple Avenue about 5:00  a.m. for a fire in a patient room.

A woman suffered burns to her face after she had been smoking in bed while using oxygen.

The fire was out when firefighters arrived due to quick actions by staff.  Staff also evacuated other residents in that hallway.

The woman that was injured is being treated at Eskanazi Hospital in Indianapolis.

No other injuries were reported.

Ann Bowdan Wilder who is the communications manager for Signature told us that the resident has been treated and will be returning the the facility by the end of the week.
