Johanne June Guess, formerly of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on May 18, 2020 in Canby, Oregon at the age of 88.

Johanne was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 21, 1931; the daughter of Peter and Ruth (McComb) Rome. The family moved to Alliance, Ohio when she was young and she graduated from Alliance High School in 1950. Along with her sister, Evelynne, she enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 31, 1952, and was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.. She was honorably discharged October 17, 1954. She met William Guess and they married on April 19, 1954 in Angola, Indiana. They were married for 51 years. Together they had 3 sons: Michael, Gregory, and Jeffrey. The family moved to Brazil, Indiana in 1970. Johanne was an avid swimmer, loved traveling, and enjoyed crafts like embroidery, quilting, and scrapbooking. She also was very involved in church and church activities as a long-time member of the Brazil First Christian Church.

Johanne was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Ruth Rome, her husband William Guess, and two brothers: Robert Rome and Harry Rome; a grandson Matthew Guess.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Michael Guess and wife Mary of Canby, Oregon, Gregory Guess and wife Lisa of Lindenhurst, Illinois, and Jeffrey Guess and wife Karen of Martinsville, Indiana; grandchildren: David Guess (Maria), Mark Guess (Annie), Michelle Andrews (Howard), Bethany Boyle (John), James Guess, Christina Guess, Sarah Monday (Jon), and Amy Grove (Kole); 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Evelynne Rash as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Graveside services will be at Clearview Cemetery on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 1:00pm.
