
Gary W. Hodge, 73, of Harmony, Indiana went home to Heaven, on June 4, 2020, while staying at Cloverleaf Healthcare, in Knightsville, Indiana.
Gary was born on January 8, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of Walter C. and Anna Mae (Remington) Hodge. He graduated from Garfield High School with the class of 1965. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served with the 862 Supply Squadron, in Minot, North Dakota, on the Strategic Air Command Base. He served in the military from 1968 until being honorably discharged in 1972. He married Mary Sampson on June 18, 1967. Gary worked at the Federal Penitentiary, in Terre Haute. Most of Gary’s career was spent working at Eli Lilly as a Senior Chemical Operator.
When Gary wasn’t working, he enjoyed target shooting, hunting, fishing, cooking, bread making, wine making, and listening to music. Gary enjoyed his beloved pets especially his favorite dog Benny. He also loved to share a good story.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Hodge and Anna Mae Evans and a half-brother Michael Hodge.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years Mary Hodge; his children Mary Beth Helt and husband Chris of West Virginia, Gary Lee and girlfriend Sonja McCloud of Terre Haute, and Alicia Albert and husband James of Clinton; grandchildren: Sebastian Helt, Bret Hodge, Kayla Hodge, James Albert II, Caleb Albert, and Isaac Albert; a great-granddaughter Laura Hodge; a half-sister Michelle Contreras; as well as special aunt Margie and cousins and several other family members and friends.
