Donald J Funk, 83, of Brazil, Indiana passed away on June 8, 2020, while staying at Villas of Hollybrook.

Don was born March 2, 1937 Bowling Green, IN, the son of Joy S. Funk and Aretha (Fraasa) Funk. He graduated from Bowling Green School in 1955, soon after started his military service. Don served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and retired in 1979 as MSTR Sergeant. During his military career he served in Vietnam from 1969 – 1970.

Following his military career Don moved back to Clay County where he joined Local 841, Operating Engineers. He also worked for Romas Trucking and Excavating for many years. When he retired a second time, he worked for C.A.R.S. in Brazil, Indiana and drove the DAV van to the VA hospital in Indy.

As a young man Don enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. Later in life Don enjoyed traveling with his wife Joan.

Don is survived by his wife Joan M. Funk whom he married August 10, 1985; sons: Michael Lewis Funk of Farmersburg, Indiana and David J Funk of Brazil, Indiana; step-children: Rob Skaggs and wife Toni of West Lafayette, Indiana, Darla Seitz of Terre Haute, Indiana, Kim Andergiri of Jedda Saudi Arabia; grandchildren: Christopher Funk and Tyler Funk; step-grandchildren: Nicole Skaggs, Taylor Seitz, Garret Newhouse, Yasmine Andergiri, Abdul Aziz Andergiri, and Hatim Andergiri; step-great-grandchildren: Kyler Newhouse, Zade Newhouse, and Aria Forsman; sister Mary Louden; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Joy and Aretha Funk; daughter Cynthia Funk; a son Stephen Funk; and a sister Sheryl Dillon.
