Wabash Valley Counties Have Some Of The Lowest Unemployment Rates In The State

INDIANA – This week the Indiana Department of Workforce Development published the county by county unemployment numbers for May.

Counties in the Wabash Valley are in the middle when compared to other locations.

Vermillion County has the highest unemployment rate in the Wabash Valley at 12.3% putting it in 35th place.

Vigo County is right behind in 36th position with an unemployment rate of 12.1%

Other local counties:

54     Putnam      11.3%

59     Clay            10.7%

78     Greene      9.0%

81     Parke         8.9%

The highest unemployment rate was in Howard County at 21.8%.

The lowest rate was in Davies County at 5.6%

The state unemployment rate was at 11.9%
