Phyllis Ann (Braden) Modesitt, 79, of Brazil, Indiana passed away at home, on June 22, 2020 following a brief illness.

Phyllis was born on July 21, 1940, in Clay County, Indiana the daughter of Clarence A. and Dorothy (Brown) Braden. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1958. Phyllis married Thomas Modesitt on May 30, 1958. Phyllis worked for Columbia House and retired after many years.

Phyllis loved spending time with her family. Sunday dinners were very important to her. She loved cooking and making meals for her family and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Dorothy Braden; a son Tony “Nose” Modesitt; grandson Jerome Modesitt; great-granddaughter Deklyn Shields; and a brother Jack Braden.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years Thomas Modesitt; her son Tom Modesitt (Debi Jones) of Brazil; her daughter Teri Miller (Doug Short) of Brazil; grandchildren: Thomas James “T.J.” (Andrea), Mitchell “Mitch” Modesitt (Candra), Vanessa Modesitt, Devin Whittington (Courtney), Denae Shields (Darian), Derick Modesitt (Chrissy), and Dani Miller (Tony); great-grandchildren: Maverick, Holden, Dashton, Mia, Jax, Ava, Owen, Brayden, Cameron, Chris, Evie, Nora, Bella, Mylz, and Amelia; daughter-in-law Ronda Modesitt; siblings: Steve Braden (Tammy) and Brenda Gurley; a sister-in-law Diane Braden as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 4-6pm. Services will be at the funeral home, on Friday, at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association 705 Putnam St, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
