Danet Lynn Egan, 64, passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Friday, June 26, 2020.
She was born March 11, 1956 in Shelby, Ohio to Jack Edward Shaffer and Mary Ann Smith
Shaffer Patterson. Danet was a precious surprise to her family as the younger identical twin to
Denise. The twins were proudly welcomed home by big sister, Tammy and big brother, Kim.
Danet loves Jesus! She married her sweetheart, David Bruce Egan on May 17th, 1975. They
recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. Together they raised Shawn Robert and Lindsay
Renee. They were honorary parents to many. The Egan family were members of Maryland
Community Church and attended Agape Christian Church when their children had grown.
Danet was a class officer and graduate of the Terre Haute South Vigo Class of 1974. She often
spoke of working at Luigi’s Pizza, and Donnelly Directory. Most recently she retired from Miller
Business Solutions. She was actively involved with church youth groups, Sugar Grove PTO,
and Girl Scouts to support her children and grandchildren. She was a Kids Hope mentor, a
Bunco Babe, and known across the United States and Mexico for her No Bake Cookies. Her
biscuits and gravy ruined us for all others. Danet’s turkey and dressing is another family
favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two stepfathers, Arnold Abner, and Roy Patterson
and brother in law, James “Bubba” Montgomery. Danet is survived by her husband, David
Egan, children Shawn (Jennifer) Egan, Lindsay Egan, and grandchildren Bretton, and Madi
Egan, sister Tammy Fish, brother Kim Shaffer, twin sister Denise Montgomery, many nephews,
nieces, and special friends also known as “The Bunco Babes”.
All Celebrations of her “Life a Well Loved” will be held at Agape Christian Church Gymnasium,
1825 Jessica Drive, Terre Haute, IN, 47802. Visitation will be held the evening of Monday, June
29th, from 4-8. The morning of Tuesday, June 30th our Celebration will begin at 10 with a
graveside farewell to follow. Pastor Shan Smith will officiate, burial will take place in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery. Care and Arrangements were provided by Heart to Heart Hospice and
