Dale Leland Lowdermilk

Dale Leland Lowdermilk, 90, of Cory, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2020 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Born in Clay City on August 16, 1929.

Raised on the family farm since the age of 9, Dale started working with his grandfather on the farm and carried on the family tradition for the next 81 years. Dale loved farming and was proud to receive the Hoosier Homestead Farm recognition for Jeffers-Lowdermilk farm owned by the same family for over 100 years. Dale additionally owned and operated Lowdermilk Feed Services. Dale loved living in Cory and he was a 1948 graduate of Cory High School a proud member of the Cory High School basketball team that won the IHSAA Sectional Championship in 1947.

Dale was known to all around town as one to lend a helping hand when someone was in need, to never miss an opportunity to pass along a good joke, or to tell a story. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his work ethic, kindness, strength of character, and deep love of his family.
In his younger years he loved taking his family on long Sunday afternoon drives and vacations throughout the U.S. and the Midwest. After retirement, Dale took pleasure in traveling with his wife, fishing, square dancing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was also an active member of First United Church of Christ.
Dale was the epitome of a good man, and the example of a life well lived.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Okah Lowdermilk, his foster parents, Cyril and Gladys Jeffers; and brothers, Forrest and Clyde Lowdermilk.

Dale leaves a legacy of family to include his loving wife of 69 years, Nora (Long) Lowdermilk, they married on February 14, 1951; daughters, Joan Neal and her husband William , Lynn Lowdermilk and husband Kevin Turner; a half-brother, Bob Lowdermilk; grandchildren, Nicole Hardesty and husband, Nathan, Trent Neal, Dustin Cathcart wife, Roseanna and Garrett Cathcart; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Hardesty, Lucas Hardesty, Lydia Hardesty, Levi Hardesty, Kyler Neal, Zoe Cathcart and Piper Cathcart. One nephew, Myron Dale Lowdermilk and nieces Karen (Lowdermilk) Mercer and Sandra (Lowdermilk) Doering.

Private services are scheduled with burial at St. Peters Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.
