
James Barnhart Corbin, 83, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on July 20, 2020.
Jim was born on April 26, 1937, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Wayne and Marion (Barnhart) Corbin. Jim graduated from Staunton High School with the class of 1955 and later from Indiana State University with a Master’s degree in Education. He served his country in the United States Army for 4 years serving in Korea. He later retired from the Indiana Army Reserves as a Sergeant First Class. He worked at Columbia Records where he met his wife Sue Hudock. Mr. Corbin worked as a Science and History teacher with Turkey Run High School for more than 20 years. Mr. Corbin also retired from the Hoosier Lottery after nearly 12 years. Mr. Corbin moved to Kentucky this April to be closer to his daughter.
Jim loved hanging out at his cabin in Mansfield, Indiana. He also enjoyed Wintering in Florida where he enjoyed playing Shuffleboard, enjoying coffee with friends, and bike riding. Jim enjoyed making walking stick, carving, working in the yard, and wood working.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Marion Corbin; his wife Sue Ann Corbin; and a son Greg Corbin; a brother Robert Corbin.
Survivors include his children: James “Andy” Corbin of Shelbyville, Indiana, Ted Corbin and wife Kelly of Las Vegas, and Joan Ford and husband David of Kentucky; grandchildren: Stefan Corbin, Matthew Ford, and Jacob Ford.
Graveside services will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 2:30pm. A military tribute will be provided by the United States Army and members of the VFW and American Legion.
