Lifelong Clay City resident Richard Lee Royer peacefully died in the early morning hours of July 18, 2020 at the age of 91.

He was born at home on October 28, 1928 to Titus and Edith Royer. Richard was a husband, father and farmer.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Imogene Royer. The two married while seniors in high school in 1947.

Richard accepted Christ as his savior in 1963 at Good Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and song leader. He was later a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church in Clay City.

He is survived by two sons; Jim Royer (Beverly) of Sullivan, Indiana and Mike Royer (Amy) of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Jennifer Royer of Indianapolis, Michael Royer of Sullivan, Jack Royer of Birmingham, and Will Royer of Boone, North Carolina and three great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan who saw to all of Richard’s needs in recent years.

Graveside services for the family will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday July 21, 2020 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City.
