Michael Dean “Mick” Neiswinger, 72, of Clay City passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 in his residence. He was born in Clay County, IN on July 7, 1948 to Charlie “Chod” and Kathryn (White) Neiswinger.

Mick was a 1966 graduate of Clay City High School. While in high school he worked at Ralph’s IGA, later he worked at several different grocery stores as store manager or produce manager. He was owner and operator of Neiswinger’s Grocery and Restaurant in Clay City from 1983 until 1988 during this time he also took a job with the town of Clay City. This started his time in law enforcement and became Deputy Town Marshall, where he continued until April 2013, when he was forced to retire due to a stroke that he never completely recovered from. Mick served in the Air National Guard in Terre Haute and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clay City.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents, “Chod” and Kathryn Neiswinger; and a sister, Lianna Smith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Myra (Haviland) Neiswinger, whom he married on January 14, 1972; 2 sons, Eric Alan Neiswinger and girl friend Anita Hobbs and Mason Dean Neiswinger and wife Tori; grandchildren, Whitney, Micah, Kirsten, Karson, Karter and Keegan; great-grandchildren, Kali and Kobi Wallace; a brother, Mark Neiswinger; and several nieces and nephews.
