Jack went home to Heaven July 10, from his home in Lutz, Florida. He was born in Stanford, KY on June 24, 1931 to Ted and Lula Shanks. He graduated from Ashboro School in 1949 and served in the Army from 1953-55 during the Korean conflict. Jack married Pat Buck in 1954. After being discharged, he worked for IBM in Greencastle, Indiana for 33 years and then had an auto body repair shop for ten years. In 1997, he and Pat moved to Fort Myers, FL and lived 21 years before moving to Lutz, FL to be near family.

Family was special and he always enjoyed their visits. Jack loved talking to people at church or as a greeter at Walmart. He served as an Elder and Deacon, as well as ushering and volunteering where needed. He liked watching TV and playing cards and, of course, winning.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Phillip. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 66 years. A brother, Roger, of Red Oak, NC. Children-Rebecca (Jeff) Holub, Calendon,MI; Kathy (Bill) Hunnell, Lutz,FL; Liz (Ron) Cowden, Ben Wheeler, TX; Eric (Brenda), Ojai, CA, Jim Buck, brother-in-law and a daughter-in-law Liz of Colorado Springs, CO. 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Jack will be Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at 23:00pm at First Christian Church, 1875 US 40, Brazil, IN. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00pm at the church.
