Irma Ruth Runyon, 87, of Carbon, Indiana, passed away on August 29, 2020.

She was born on October 22, 1932, in Richmond, Indiana the daughter of Chester and Ivern (Rhoades) Harter. Ruth graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1950. Ruth worked as an X-Ray Technician in Chicago, Illinois before she married Robert Runyon in 1956. They moved to Richmond, Indiana where she raised 4 children: Jeff, Stanley, David, and Jeanelle. Their family moved to Reelsville, Indiana in 1974 then Carbon, Indiana in 1980. Ruth worked at Zentko’s Insurance, as the Church Secretary at the Brazil Church of the Nazarene, and delivered cars for York Automotive. She was a lifelong member of The Church of the Nazarene. She was devoted to her love of Christ, her family, and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Ivern Harter, her husband Robert Runyon, two brothers: Thurlow “Doe” Harter and Darold “Butch” Harter, a sister Edna Marie “Edre” Rugg.

She is survived by 4 children: Jeff Runyon of Indianapolis, Stan Runyon and wife Kathy of Houston, TX, David Runyon of Carbon, and Jeanelle Jackson and husband Doug of Canton, MI; grandchildren: Joshua Runyon, Sam Runyon, and Amanda Gerstner (Alex); great-grandchildren: Jackson, Paisley, Aubrei, and Ailey; a sister Marilyn Williamson of Florida as well as a host of extended family members.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, at 11:00 with Pastor Marlin Betts officiating. Masks and social distancing would be appreciated.
