William “Bill” Lee Neal, 68, of Lewis, Indiana, passed away at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on September 3, 2020.

Bill was born on July 21, 1952, in Brazil, Indiana the son of John “Jack” H. and Ellen Rosalie (Miller) Neal. Bill graduated from Clay City High School and then Indiana State University in 1974. Bill worked as a farmer, in Southern Clay County, his entire life.

Bill loved watching the Indianapolis 500 and attended several years. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill had a great sense of humor and loved to listen to music.

He was a devoted member of the First United Church of Christ and served in several different capacities including choir director, elder, and deacon.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Rosie Neal; brother John C. Neal; a niece Carroll Horn.

Bill is survived by his wife (and high school sweetheart) Joan (Lowdermilk) Neal whom he married on June 11, 1972; a daughter Nicole Hardesty and husband Pastor Nathan Hardesty of Cincinnati, OH and a son William Trent Neal of Clay City; grandchildren: Kyler Neal, Lillian Hardesty, Lucas Hardesty, Lydia Hardesty, and Levi Hardesty; a nephew Andy Neal of Linton; as well as a host of friends and extended family members.

Private services will be held at the First United Church of Christ in Clay City. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Church of Christ 6414 South County Road 300 East Clay City, Indiana 47841 or Southern Clay County Christian Care and Share Food Pantry 405 East 14th St. Clay City, IN 47841.
