Joan (Mareena) Nasser, born September 15, 1932, in Terre Haute, IN, passed away October 24, 2020, in Bloomington, IN. Joan was born and lived in Terre Haute, Indiana for the majority of her life. She most enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren; as a great grandmother, she was truly delighted to become “GG” and spend time with her great grandchildren. She is survived by son Robert Nasser, Jr. and his partner Mary Thompson, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Uhlhorn, and daughter Nancy Hawkins; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Anna (Uhlhorn) and Jason Fry, grandson David Uhlhorn, granddaughter Joanie Hawkins, and great grandchildren Lila and Luke Fry; her siblings, Rosemary Kassis, Loretta Nasser, and Michael Mareena; sister-in-law Betty (Nasser) Slyby, as well as her large, extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Kreme Mareena, her husband Robert Nasser, Sr., daughter Brenda Jean, brothers –in-laws; George Kassis, John J.K. Nasser and William Slyby and brother- and sister-in-law Skander and Helen Nasser, and a special niece, Candy Nasser. Visitation on Wednesday, October 28 from 11 am to 1 pm at Greiner Funeral Home at 2005 N. 13th Street in Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Private Services are at 1 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Joan’s family asks that you please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Riley Hospital for Children, both of which she was a long-time donor.
