Juanita Marie Stultz passed from her earthly life on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Cumberland Trace in Plainfield. She was born on July 29, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Harrison and Jenny (Crawford) Beatty.

Juanita is survived by her husband of 68 years, Herbert C. Stultz; two daughters, Dorinda Masters and husband Richard of Westlake, Ohio and Suzanne Downs and husband Mike of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Kori Ellis and husband Jason of Clayton; Jay Smith and wife Cathy of Austin, Texas, and Sheila Haag and husband Jeff of Seymour. Juanita was also a great-grandmother of twelve.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Jenny Beatty of Terre Haute; and her three brothers, Charles, Bill, and Bob.

Always an educator, Juanita first served as director of the YWCA in Terre Haute. Later, she taught for the Vincennes Community School Corporation for 29 years as a third grade teacher at Franklin Elementary and then transitioned into the role of Dean/Counselor at Clark Junior High School. After her retirement, she briefly taught at Vincennes University.

Juanita was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Vincennes until moving to Plainfield. It was then that she and her husband, Herbert, transferred their membership to the Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Juanita attended Indiana State University where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and was a member of Sigma Kappa. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A graveside ceremony will be held at noon on Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Down Syndrome of Indiana (DSI), 708 E. Michigan Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 in honor of Juanita and Herbert’s great-granddaughter, Aurora.
