Billy Lee Hargrave Sr, 79, of Brazil, Indiana passed away at his daughter’s home in Centerpoint, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Billy was born in Vigo County, Indiana on September 16, 1941, the son of Charles Hargrave Sr. and Emma (Gould) Hargrave. He graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1959. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army He was honorably discharged as a Specialist after 3 years of service to his country.

As a civilian he worked as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service. He retired after 33 years of service.

Billy enjoyed gardening, riding horses, playing guitar, watching Indianapolis Colts football, traveling, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Emma Hargrave; two brothers: Charles Hargrave Jr. and George Hargrave; three sisters: Helen Kaiser, Beverly Lowe, and June Rose McDowell; son Gary Jackson; granddaughter Sara Lynn Ketner.

Survivors include his wife Sherral Hargrave of Brazil; children: Billy Hargrave Jr. (Becky) of Terre Haute, Sheila Funk (Tim) of Terre Haute, Jenny Wieland (Rob) of Belleville, Illinois, Danny Hargrave Sr. (Melissa) of Terre Haute, Emily Myers (Doug) of Centerpoint, Christina Cheesman (Rodney) Terre Haute; 40 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date.
