David H. Cottom, 68, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away Sunday November 22, 2020 at Union Hospital. Dave was born July 16, 1952 to Donald and Barbara (Jones) Cottom in Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William “Squire” and Mildred “Granny” Cottom, Gordon and Ruth Jones, his parents and sister, Candy Sue Ricketts. Dave is survived by is wife of 30 years, Cheryl “Cher” (Perille) Cottom. Together they have six sons, Pete (Cindy) of Terre haute, Jason (Lori) of Lewis, Rick (Nimfa) of Terre Haute, Dominick (Kellsey) of Midland, Derrick of Indianapolis, and Tony of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, Doug (Myla) of Farmersburg, Donnie (Debbie) of Lewis and lots of nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Dave. Dave grew up in Lewis, graduated from Honey Creek high School. He worked for a farmer, then went to work at Bemis of Terre Haute and has been there ever since for over 46 years. Dave grew up playing ball, driving stock cars, and bowling. He loved golfing and played as often as he could. He enjoyed his weekends off, going and sitting and watching his friends race. He also enjoyed fishing in in his country pond. Dave loved life, his wife, and family and friends. Due to Covid-19, no services are scheduled at this time and the family plans for a private memorial service at a later date. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
