
William (“Bill” or “Chet”) Chester Vanatti, 78, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Union Hospital on December 5, 2020.
Bill was born on February 21, 1942, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of John Amos and Thelma Mae (Giltz) Vanatti. Bill graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1960. Following high school he worked for American Vitrified and Arketex Clay. Bill sold life insurance for Western and Southern Life Insurance for nearly 10 years before working for Great Dane Trailers. He worked for Great Dane until 2005 when he retired.
Bill was a hard worker and a devoted Christian. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Most recently he enjoyed woodworking and especially wood turning.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents John and Thelma Vanatti; a daughter Tracy Lynn Vanatti in infancy; siblings: Patricia Youngblood, Marilyn Hogue, Mary Harmon, and Wesley Vanatti; in-laws David Danhour and wife Margaret and Harvey Day.
The day after Bill’s passing, Bill welcomed into Heaven his son Ken Vanatti.
Bill is survived by his wife Karen Sue “Susie” (Danhour) Vanatti; a daughter Jean Vanatti Dean and husband Randall; a son William Eugene Vanatti and wife Cheryl; a daughter-in-law Holly Halfhill Vanatti; grandchildren: Thomas S. Edington, Tamara Heck (David), William Kirk Vanatti, Fayth Phyllissa Vanatti (Jason), Kraig Tyler Vanatti (Melissa), Cody Vanatti (Ciarra), Brady Vanatti (fiancé Heather), Leia Vanatti, Dillinger Wilkinson; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and 1 on the way; brothers: John Ernest Vanatti and Charles Amos Vanatti; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Friday, December 11, 2020, from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, at 11:00am with Reverend Doctor Quentin Madden officiating. Visit www.frenchfuneralhome.com to light a candle in his memory.
