
Fredia Mae Modesitt of Brazil, Indiana passed away on December 13, 2020. She was born December 8, 1939, in Brazil, Indiana, the daughter of Fred Hill and Marjorie Neil Hill (Eldridge).
Fredia graduated from Brazil High School, class of 1958. After high school, Fredia worked for G.C. Murphy in the office retail department, Timberland Lumber Yard, Clay County Court House as a deputy auditor for 16 years, and most recently for the Hendrix Title Company.
Fredia was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Lana Kay Modesitt, siblings; Dorothy Clingerman Leroy Hill, Delbert Hill, Patricia Eckstein, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Modesitt, whom she was married to for over 60 years, sons; Paul Wayne Modesitt (Debbie) of Brazil, Andy Modesitt (Teresa), of New Richmond, sister; Mary Jane Alsip, grandchildren; Kelsey Tincher (Cameron), Garrett Modesitt (Danielle Beamon), Taylor Thomas (Michael), great-grandchildren; Addison Tincher, and Easton Tincher and Benjamin Thomas, both due in March.
Fredia loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO. Fredia loved ceramics, crafts, and painting. She liked to write her own poetry. She was a member of the Clay County Historical Society and was a licensed Amateur Radio KB9GYT Operator. She was also a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Lawson Miller Chapel with Doctor Quentin Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm until the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church and the Clay County Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
