Michael Dennis “Mike” Petty, passed away in Union Hospital on December 12, 2020. He was born in Vigo Co. April 24, 1949 to Daniel “Oren” Petty and Mary Patricia Goodrich Petty who have preceeded him in death. Mike grew up happy, enjoying life on Wonder Lake in Riley Indiana. Where he was raised alongside his brothers Robert “Bob” Petty and James “Jay” Petty and several cousins. Mike was a proud participant of the Boy Scouts Troop #38 during which time he helped clear land known as Fowler Park, he also received the Order Of Ther Arrow Award. Mike graduated Gerstmeyer Tech in 1967 and began apprenticeship with the Local #725 Electrical Union from where he retired in 2014. Mike had many talents and hobbies, some of which included playing music, camping, sailing, creole cooking, creating art in many forms, racing and a challenging game of golf. Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years. Jean Smith Petty, retired nurse together raising two children Lorrie Ann Slinkard Best and Loren Matthew Slinkard. Mike will be Sadily missed by 4 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many neices, nephews and friends in the U.S. and UK. Cremation was chosen, with private family services due to the Covid-19 virus. A celebration of life will be held at a later. Donations can be made to the charity of choice in honor of Michael.
