Mary Evelyn Alsop Jukes, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus. She was born on December 24, 1922, in Sullivan County to George and Dorothy (Sevier) Alsop. She married Bill Jukes on March 28, 1941.

Mary is survived by her son, William Edward Jukes and his wife Connie of Terre Haute; grandsons, William Edward Jukes, Jr., and wife Amy, Thomas William Jukes and wife Sharon, great-grandchildren, Thomas, Mary Elizabeth, and Colton; sister, Sue Ann Greggs and husband Dave; sisters-in-law, Olive Millicent Daily and Ruth Anne Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, George Alsop, Jr.; sister, Eileen Downing; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Hogue.

Mary met Bill at Rosedale High School and the two became inseparable, they were the perfect couple. She worked for Ann Page/Columbian Stamping Mill before retiring and going to work as a receptionist at a chiropractor’s office. Mary loved to quilt, sew, and was exceptional at the art of crochet. Her stitches were immaculate. Mary was loved, admired, and adored by her family, they were her life. She loved to host family Sunday dinners in her home. She will be truly missed.

Mary’s family would like to thank Dr. V. Reddy and the competent, caring staff at Harrison’s Crossing for the outstanding care and compassion shown during Mary’s stay. Her family is very appreciative of the exemplary care that she received during her final days.
