
Floyd L. Cheesman, Sr, 73 of West Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Union Hospital. He was born in West Terre Haute on October 14, 1947 to Odus Leroy Cheesman, Sr. and Virginia L. Martin Cheesman.
Floyd was a member of West Side Christian Church. He retired as a Training Supervisor at ISU and was owner of Floyd’s Janitorial Service, and previously worked at the Wastewater Treatment Plant for several years.
Floyd is survived by his wife Margaret Sanders Cheesman, whom he married June 3, 1968. Also surviving are their three children; Angel Chrisman (husband Darin), Dawn Beasley ( husband Bobby), and Floyd “Spank” Cheesman, Jr. He is also survived by his siblings George Cheesman, Mark Cheesman, Jenny Zurfas, Charles Ray Cahoon, and Roxanne Cheesman. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; David Chrisman, Darah Anderson (husband Matt), Andrea Chrisman, Jacob Clark (wife Haley), Joshua Beasley, Mathew Beasley, Kaylynn Morris, Zoey Morris, Alana McCalister, Kaylen Cheesman, Sabrina Cheesman, Hannah Newburn, Pearce Newburn, Emily Holbert, Madison Harris, Jacob Harris, Chloe Harris, and special friends George and Carol Weir, as well as several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Odus Cheesman, Sr., his mother, Virgina Martin Cheesman Cahoon, and two brothers; Mike Cheesman and Leroy Cheesman.
Funeral services will be held at West Side Christian Church, 126 N. 8th St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Wilbur and Tommy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 10:00 AM until service time in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to West Side Christian Church, in Floyd’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN.
