David Roy Hofmann, 85, of Brazil, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in his residence. He was born on July 31, 1935 in Cory, IN, the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Barnhardt) Hofmann.

David was a 1953 graduate of Cory High School. He married the love of his life, Sue Shidler on November 2, 1956. Together they raised their children on the family farm. Both attended the former United Brethren Church. He served his country as a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard for a combined 35 years. In addition to his military career, David worked on the family farm repairing anything from tractors to a friend’s airplane. He collected various automobiles, tractors and toy tractors.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dorothy Hofmann; a son, Robert Hofmann; a brother, Warren Hofmann; and a sister, Marjorie Fields.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Sue Hofmann; children, Steve Hofmann and wife, Amanda, Kevin Hofmann, Beth Norris and husband, Douglas and Brian Hofmann and wife, Lora; grandchildren, Mindy Landon and husband, Matt, Kayla Garman and husband, Jared, Brittany Hofmann, Dylan Hofmann, Cooper Hofmann and wife, Maranda, Spencer Norris and Shelbilyn Norris; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Don, Larry and Jack Hofmann; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hofmann; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City with Pastor David Smith officiating. Burial will follow immediately after services.
