
Denny Fraley Rissler, 90 of Reelsville, passed away January 11, 2021 at 9:30pm at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute. He was born September 11, 1930 in Putnam County, the son of Otis H. Rissler and Lucinda L. Berry Rissler. He graduated from Reelsville High School.
Denny was a life- long member of the Big Walnut Baptist Church. He also worked for the church, caring for the building and grounds, and helped in the past, with the “Little Lambs” day care at the church.
Denny was a very creative and artistic gentleman. In the past he worked for the Brazil Greenhouse and was also a florist on his own for over 50 years. He worked at Arketex, Allison’s, and J.C. Penny’s. He and his mother, Lucinda had a grocery store in Putnamville from 1959-1977. Denny was a collector of antiques and enjoyed decorating when he was young. His priority was caring for the family farm all during his working years. He loved their family farm and tended to the care of the home and grounds for as long as his health would allow.
As his health failed, he has resided at assisted living facilities. He made the best of his stays and drew many pictures for the other residents and staff to enjoy.
He is survived by his sister, Hazel Marie McCullough of Cory; a niece Amanda Steele and husband William; a nephew Andrew McCullough and wife Joetta; great nieces Ashley McCullough and Kelly McCullough.
He was preceded in death by his father Otis and mother, Lucinda Rissler, brother-in-law, Bob McCullough.
At his direction, cremation is to take place with his ashes buried at a later date. He requested no services. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Big Walnut Baptist Church, 5512 W. Co. Rd. 950S, Reelsville, IN 46171. Post a note of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
