
Dixie L. Johnson, 90, of Clay City, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Springhill Village in Terre Haute. She was born on May 25, 1930 in Milroy, IN to the late Vaughn and Francis (Thompson) Hungerford.
Dixie married Rex L. Johnson on June 1, 1946 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Union Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Clay City. She enjoyed living at the Clay City Senior apartment complex engaging in numerous activities. She loved gardening her flowers and shopping with her friend, Lila for knickknacks. Her home was filled with a wide selection of her treasures. Her love was her grandchildren spending the night, cooking for them and playing a variety of games for hours.
Dixie is survived by her sons, Jack Johnson (Tola), Mike Johnson (Dale), Mark Johnson (Susan); and a daughter, Jennifer Jeffers (Wayne); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services. The family will be holding a private graveside service. Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th Street, Clay City is in charge of arrangements.
