Marjorie M. Stoelting, 94 years old of Cory, Indiana, passed away on February 7, 2021.
She was born on April 21, 1926, to Harry C. Emmert and Floy P. (Fisher) Emmert. She was the last surviving of her siblings, brother, Clifton (Margaret) Emmert, and sisters: Pauline (Tony) Collins, Ann (Max) Ferguson, and Harriet (Max) Knust.
She grew up helping on the family farm south of Brazil. She often recalled waiting with anticipation for electricity to reach their farm and the paving of Highway 59. She graduated with the Class of 1944 from Ashboro High School and from Indiana State Teacher’s College in 1947. Then she began her 31-year teaching career at Ashboro, Coal City, Cory, and Clay City.
On June 21, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert L. Stoelting, her beloved husband for 52 years. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1999. They lived and enjoyed a good life together on their farm north of Cory. There they raised their two daughters.
They enjoyed their 3 grandsons, attending and supporting them in many of their activities. Every September, Bob and Marge could be found helping with the Cory Apple Festival.
She was an active member of the Mt. Calvary Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and treasurer. She could often be found with her tattered, well-read Bible on her lap.
After retirement Bob and Marge enjoyed winters in Bradenton, Florida with family and friends. Marge enjoyed spending time with family, playing Rummicub and Euchre, and also working puzzles and reading.
Marge is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Becky (Darrell) Butt and Faye (Terry) Funk, grandsons: Rob Butt, Josh Butt (Laura) and Travis Funk, and great-grandchildren: Jason, Ava, and Elijah Butt, and Jaelyn and Damon Funk, and several nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Cobblestone Crossing staff for their love and care.
Private graveside services will be held at Van Cleve Cemetery.
