
Ronald Edward Snyder, 77, lifelong resident of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care on February 7, 2021.
Ron was born on December 29, 1943, the son of Milbur and Grace (Hardesty) Snyder. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1961. Ron worked for Putnamville Correctional Facility for a short time before going to work at the United States Penitentiary (FCC Terre Haute). He retired from there in 1994. After retiring from the penitentiary, he worked various jobs in the trucking industry. His final employment was with Souder’s Trucking.
Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of the Wabash Valley, Eastern Star where he had served as Past Worthy Patron, and Plainfield Quakertown Shakers,
Ron enjoyed numerous hobbies including: traveling (glamping) along with woodworking, Square Dancing, and various card games.
Ron will be remembered by many attributes including his desire to help others, his mischievous grin, his love of life and friends. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Milbur and Grace Snyder; his sister Jane Nichols; a niece Vicki Mauer.
Ron is survived by his wife Sharon (Thomas) Snyder whom he married on April 27, 1991. Also surviving are his son Greg Snyder and wife Sherry and a daughter Vicki Bruce and husband Scott; grandchildren: Austin Bruce, Harrison Stevens, Drew Snyder (Lauren), Riley Stevens (Megan), and Derek Snyder (Hannah); great-granddaughter: Collins Rosemary Snyder; and a nephew Troy Nichols; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, from 11-2.
