Marilyn I. Putoff, 80, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in her residence with her family by her side.

Marilyn was born on October 1, 1940 in Clay City, the daughter of Martin Cooprider and Tish (Hall) Cooprider. She was a 1958 graduate of Clay City High School. On November 27, 1960 she married the love of her life, Don Putoff. Together they raised their family. Marilyn had several occupations. First, she was a repair operator for Indiana Bell, secretary for the Indiana Air Guard, a transcriber for Clay County Hospital, a bookkeep for her husband’s car dealership and most importantly, a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, going to church and being with her family. Marilyn was a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church in Clay City.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Don Putoff.

Survivors include her daughters, Brooke Shoemaker and husband, Brad of Cory, Sara Keller and husband, Joe of Evansville and Susan Steuerwald of Clay City; grandchildren, Justin Staley (Emily), Jordan Staley (Brittanie), Zach Boggs (Kaydean), Carson Shoemaker and Cooper Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Brylee Staley, Mackenzie Staley, Austin Boggs and Andrew Boggs; a niece, Kim Cooper; and a nephew, Stacey Putoff.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Faith Southern Baptist Church, 875 St. Rd. 246, Clay City, IN with Pastor Jason Paul officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 5, 2021 in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th Street.
