Rickey Lee Philabaum, 67, of Carbon, Indiana, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, on March 20, 2021.

Rick was born on May 22, 1953, in Clay County, the son of Ralph and Betty (Ellison) Philabaum. Rick graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1972. He worked as a butcher for Walmart for several years. Rick was an avid NASCAR fan and especially was a fan of Jeff Gordon. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and more recently he enjoyed watching old Western movies.

Rick loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed daily visits with his friend Raymond Sutherland and others at McDonalds.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Betty Philabaum and his sister Vickie Hardesty.

Rick is survived by his niece Alonda “Lonie” Hastings and nephew Scott Hardesty; great-nieces and nephews: Brook Hastings, Michael Hardesty and wife Sandy, Lexus Hardesty, and Taylor Hardesty (fiancé Daniel Alton); great-nieces and nephews: Luke Hardesty, Kate Hardesty, Cole Hardesty, Gage Hardesty, Kimberly Alton.

Memorial services will be held at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11am until time of services.
