Marilyn F. Allen passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the age of 78 in her home in Terre Haute after battling liver disease. She was born on August 10, 1942, to Lowell O. Glasgow, Sr. and Laura F. Andrews Glasgow.

Marilyn is preceded in death by both parents; her brothers: Lowell “Bud” Glasgow, Jr., David Glasgow, and Franklin Glasgow; and her children: Terri Allen, Matthew Theodore “Teddy” Allen, and Brenda L. Allen.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Conrad Allen, Jr.; her children: Lisa “Mace” Allen (Thales Exoo) of Chicago, IL, and Chris Jeffers (Don) of Terre Haute, IN; her grandchildren: Donnie Jeffers, Ada and Ezra Allen-Exoo, and granddaughters-by-love Caleigh-Ann and Chloé Hedden; her sisters: Carolyn Atkinson and Georgianna Bricker, both of Terre Haute, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn attended Rankin School and looked forward to going to the annual reunions. She enjoyed working in retail, and she never met a stranger. Throughout her career, she worked at Heap Big Beef, Miller Pharmacy, Osco Drugs, L.S. Ayres, and other businesses, and she retired from Woolworth’s in the early 1990s.

She belonged to the Hercules Lunch Group, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 43 in Terre Haute, IN, and The Daughters of the Nile Badoura Temple 23 in Terre Haute, IN. Marilyn collected miniatures and Barbies, and she loved to fish, read mysteries, watch cooking shows, and travel with her husband and family.

Marilyn adored her family beyond compare, and she especially loved her grandchildren—more than life itself. She will be remembered for her sweet, caring, generous, loving, and fun personality. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

The family is grateful for the care she received by the kind nurses and aides at Union Hospital during her lengthy stay in March, and the compassionate care she received from the Heart 2 Heart Hospice team that cared for her in her final days.

As per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation was chosen, and she will be laid to rest at Bethesda Cemetery in West Terre Haute, IN alongside her beloved departed children. No services are scheduled, and a celebration of Marilyn’s life may be announced at a later date.
