
John Lee Harden, 69, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, on May 6, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
John was born on December 9, 1951, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Max and Dora (Burkett) Harden. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1970. Following high school he went to work for Pfizer where he worked as a Millwright. He retired as a maintenance foreman after many years of service to the company. He also worked at S and G Excavating and Lincoln Park Stone. He retired last February.
As a young man, he loved listening to and playing music and played at various area festivals. John was an avid race fan. His love for racing originated with his parents Max and Dora and his brother “Harley” racing Go-Karts. Along with his son Mark, he also built and raced go-Karts and Sprint Cars. He also enjoyed, hot-rod’s, motorcycles, listening to Blues music, shopping, spending time out-doors, and “antiquing”. Amongst many attributes, John will be remembered for his fun-loving, jovial, sense-of-humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife Debbie Harden, his father Max Harden and a brother Ron “Harley” Harden.
Survivors include his mother Dora Harden of Brazil; a sister Denise Mishler and husband Keith; son Mark Harden and wife Jaime of Brazil; daughter Michelle Harden-Price of Brazil; step-children: Dawn Kanizer and husband Jon of Clinton; Jason Myers and wife Gloria of Greencastle; grandchildren: Jacob Harden, Kennady Harden, and Christian Price; step-grandchildren: Zach, Lauren, Emilee, Abigail, and Miranda; several step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Rose Harden; a niece Cassie Zentko of Brazil; a nephew Tony Harden and wife Holly of Terre Haute; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Cremation services have been entrusted to French Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Clearview Cemetery at a later date.
