Brenda Joyce Allen, 61, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at home, on May 28, 2021 following a battle with cancer.

Brenda was born on December 17, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of William and Merietta (Jackson) Spears. She married Leonard Allen in 1987. She enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, gardening, canning, playing Bingo, and especially being mom and grandma.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents William and Merietta Spears and a brother William “Billy” Spears.

Brenda is survived by her husband Leonard Allen; 3 children: Shelly Sturgis and husband Joe of Crystal Beach, Florida, Daniel Strange and wife Brianna of Clay City, Indiana, and Donald “Curtis” Sutherland of Centerpoint, Indiana; a step-son Leonard Allen Jr. and wife Paula; grandchildren: Michael Hammond (Kayla Spangler), Weston Taylor (Riza), Jacob Taylor, Sophia Sturgis, Daniel Ray Strange Jr., and Liam Michael Strange; step-grandchildren: Jayson Barger, Noah Barger, and Santana Allen; a great-granddaughter Novaleigh Hammond; siblings: Donald Ray Spears (Desi), David Spears, Robert Spears, Donna Hatheway, Cindy Gibson (Gene LaDuke), Mary Daugherty, Terrie Wilt, Ricky Spears (Cindy Williams) as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Services will be on Wednesday, at 1:00 with burial to follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley 400 8th Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47804.
