Kathryn L. Greenwell, 92, of Clay City, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 10,2021.
Kathryn (Kate) was born on March 28,1929 the daughter of Emil B. Duncan and Ernestine (Bivens) Duncan. Kathryn held many jobs over the years but the position that brought her the most joy was that of homemaker for her late husband Virgil C. Greenwell and mother to her “one and only” Victor Greenwell. She also took great pride in working at Pillsbury “pushing cookies” as she called it and that is where she met her friend and sister in faith, Mona Brown. The two remained in contact long after Pillsbury closed their doors in Terre Haute in the early 1990s.
Kate was a woman of unwavering faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God in Clay City where she was very active in organizing dinners, maintenance of the church building and witnessing to others at every opportunity. She also spent many hours with her family engaged in boardgames such as Aggravation, as well as her favorite game of Uno.
She is survived by her son; Victor (Linda) Greenwell of Spencer, grandchildren; Amanda (James) Teague of Spencer, Tim (Amanda) Greenwell of Spencer, Anna Greenwell and great-grandchildren; Maddie, Justin and Kayden.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Virgil Greenwell, brothers; Dick and Robert Duncan, sister; Ruth Miller.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East Eighth Street Clay City, Indiana, 47841. Services will be Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Assembly of God Church; 906 Washington Street, Clay City, at 11am with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery.
