Samuel J. Purdy, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday July 15, 2021 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on July 7, 1943 to Paul La Victor Purdy and Frances Watkins Ripple. He was a faithful member of The First Church of the Nazarene, he was member of the Masonic Lodge and the Grotto. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with his friends in the mornings at Burger King. He was retired from Construction, working for Lough Brothers for many years and retiring from A&B Windows. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra K. Dierdorf Purdy in 1996 and his second wife, Sandra J. Dieghton Purdy in 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Phil Purdy and Patricia Tarwater. He is survived by two daughters; Karen Ross (Mark) of Terre Haute and Barbara Beel (Paul) also of Terre Haute. He is survived by brothers; John Purdy of Terre Haute and Pete Purdy also of Terre Haute. He is survived by sisters; Sarah Phelps of Terre Haute, Paula Wood of Terre Haute, and Naomi Mundy of Clinton, IN. He is survived by grandchildren; Whitney Joseph (Shawn), Brayden Beck (Audra), Allexus Joseph (Levi), Madison Ross (Daniel) and Blake Beel. He is survived by great grandchildren; Oakleigh, Jaxson, Everleigh, Adalynn, Reagan and Waylen as well as several nieces and nephews. Services are Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Pastor Denny Wilson will be officiating, burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
