John Edward Barbour, of Princeton, IN and formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away on July 7, 2021 while on vacation in a bowling tournament in Las Vegas. He was born on October 19, 1956 to Daniel C. Barbour and Margaret Rhyan Barbour.

John was a 1974 graduate of West Vigo High School and graduated from Indiana State University in 1978 with a degree in Recreation. He began work May 26, 1981 for Duke Energy (Public Service) at Wabash Plant and retired in 2015 while working at Duke Energy in Princeton, IN. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, his pets and 4-H, and was a member of United Methodist Church.

John is survived by his daughter, Mallory Barbour, and his grandchildren; Alex Blevins, Addie Blevins, Stormie Heltsly, and Skarlitt Heltsly. Also surviving are two brothers, Dennis Barbour (Nancy), and Alan Barbour (Becky), and his sister, Mavis Barbour Russell (Gary), as well as two step-children, Travis Darst and Corinne Smith, his former wife, Alicia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 6076 US Highway 150, West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Kathy Roush officiating, with a dinner immediately following in the Community Life Center. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service in the church. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of choice in John’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
