Karen Sue “Susie” (Danhour) Vanatti, 74, of Brazil, Indiana passed away at her residence on September 8. 2021, where she met her husband William at Heavens Gates.
Karen was born on March 23, 1947, the daughter of David and Margaret Peggy Danhour Day and stepfather Harvey Day.
Karen attended Van Buren High School. She attended the First Baptist Church of Brazil.
Karen was a homemaker, caring for her husband, children, and family. That was so important to her.
In her early years, Karen loved sewing. She enjoyed couponing and stocking her “refund room.
She enjoyed cooking and collecting over 100 cookbooks.” In her free time, Karen loved flowers, gardening, and putting her green thumb to good use. She planted every seed she could, and they always grew! After the passing of her husband of 57 years, she bought a motor home and enjoyed camping with her family and grandkids and beloved dog “Sydnee.”
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Chester Vanatti, a daughter Tracy Lynn Vanatti in infancy, son; Ken Vanatti and sister; Sharon Stallcop.
Karen is survived by a daughter; Jean Vanatti, and a son; William Eugene Vanatti and wife Cheryl; a daughter in law Holly Halfhill Vanatti, grandchildren; Thomas S. Edington, Tamara Heck (David), William Kirk Vanatti, Fayth Vanatti (Jason), Kraig Vanatti (Melissa), Cody Vanatti (Ciara), Brady Vanatti (Heather), Leia Vanatti, Dillinger Wilkinson; siblings; Joyce Wheeler (Dan), John Danhour (Connie), Curt Danhour (Phyllis), 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lawson-Miller Chapel 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 4-8 P.M. Services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Doctor Quentin Madden officiating.
Burial will follow at Bee Ridge cemetery.
