
John Howard Record of Terre Haute, IN went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2021. John was born on May 10, 1938 in Morrisville IN to Oliver Paul and Edythe (Wells) Record. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Calvin Paul Record, and sister Mayanne (Record) Turner. He is survived by his wife, Diosa Barrett Record, children, Diana Head (Phillip) and Diosa LaDuron (Dave) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, whom he loved. Also surviving are his siblings Catherine Jane (Record) Ham (Jack), and Kay (Record) Bardes.
John graduated from Morrisville Indiana High School in 1956. While he was there, he played all kinds of sports. He was involved in Boy Scouts, 4H, and FFA. Growing up he had many different jobs. As a young boy, he went to work for his Uncle Calvin on the farm after school. He milked cows, feed farm animals, gathered eggs, and drove tractors, (even though he was underage). He drove a truck for Indiana Transit Company, worked for the Cement Block Co., and worked for a milk company that delivered milk to many homes.
In 1961, John served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer in Korea. John was honorably discharged in 1963. After the military, John went to work for the J.I. Case Co. in 1964. There he worked in various positions, and later held the title Case Business Manager. John retired in 1984 to pursue his dream.
In 1983, John and Diosa went into business owning and operating a hunting and fishing camp in Ontario Canada. During the off-season, John continued to work for Case setting up Farm Equipment Shows, where he set up equipment and displays at various shows in various states. These shows consisted of demonstrations, training, schooling and displays of Case equipment to farmers, dealers, and the public.
John loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He and his brother, Calvin, had many hunting trips together. They hunted large game (bear, moose, elk, antelope, and mule deer) along with small game (pheasants, rabbit, quail, and grouse).
John’s friend, Vaughn Esper owned and operated an Outfitting business in Montana. John went there on many occasions to assist in the operations of the business. John made sure horses were packed and readied for guests. He set up campsites including tents, cooking equipment, and helping prepare meals.
John and Diosa purchased a house in Miranda, South Dakota. They wanted it to be used as a yearly retreat for family, friends, and guests for the annual pheasant hunting trip.
John was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Mooresville, IN.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 1:00p.m. in Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 3201 McKeen St, Terre Haute, IN 47803. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. In honoring John’s wishes, cremation has been chosen after services.
